What We Do

We are proud to support a range of members' sport history activities, initiatives and research with funding.

Our annual conference is a focal point for us where many of our members come together to share their research and enthusiasm with the community. But this is just one part of what we do. We also provide funding for independent research and to host events; we present awards for exceptional work in the discipline; run seminars and edit a podcast which features research and reflections from a variety of sport historians.

We warmly welcome postgraduate students, early career researchers, and independent researchers. We have a long track record of supporting postgraduate students and early career researchers with their research and bringing them in to the organisation itself. One of our Trustees has specific responsibility for this. We have recently elected an independent researcher representative to the Board of Trustees and are aiming to provide more support to independent researchers.
