The Summer of Sport
Its late June, so what does this mean? Yes Wimbledon! This is certainly the kind of event that inspired my interest in sport and subsequently in the championships history. It was this kind of event that generated my interest in the history of sport.
After years of trying this year I've got some tickets through the public ballot, and me and my tennis crazy sister have got some tickets, and not just any tickets, somehow we got Centre court tickets for Ladies Semi-Finals! Wow! I really can't just wait to get there and taste the strawberries, drink the pimms and feel the history.
I'm lucky that I live in Kent and so this year's Open Championship is taking place just down the road from me at Sandwich. Having visited St Andrews last year and found plenty of bunkers around the Old Course I found myself truly inspired, and furthered my golf history research.
I really can't wait to see the world's top players at both these events and I'm sure it will inspire me to work even on those sunny days when I wish I could be on the court or course and hopefully inspire plenty more like me.
